As a proud, longstanding partner of the MDA, Cliff’s Local Market joined retailers nationwide for the 39th annual MDA Shamrocks Campaign, raising a total of $42,082. Over the years, Cliff’s Local Market and Clifford Fuel Company Inc. have raised over $516,000 for local children and adults suffering from muscular dystrophy, ALS, and other related neuromuscular diseases.
Beginning February 1st and lasting through March 17th, customers were invited to purchase a paper shamrock (pin-up) for a $1 or $5 contribution at check-out. Shamrocks were then signed and prominently displayed in each store, symbolizing the movement to cure these diseases for MDA families in the community.
“We are continually impressed by the generosity of our patrons and community members. It has been a challenging year, but we are especially proud of our team for going above and beyond to achieve this year’s total,” said Jim Clifford, President of Clifford Fuel Company Inc. “The MDA is one of many organizations that makes a difference in our community and we are always proud to offer our support.”
The MDA Shamrocks Campaign is the nation’s largest St. Patrick’s Day fundraising program. Each year, shamrock funds support the MDA in providing telehealth appointments, connecting families to MDA-funded clinical trials, and performing vital research for a cure.
Local funds, this year, are directly benefitting area children with Muscular Dystrophy, allowing them to attend virtual MDA summer camp where they will meet campers just like them from all over the country.

About the Muscular Dystrophy Association
MDA is leading the fight to free individuals — and the families who love them — from the harm of muscular dystrophy, ALS and related muscle-debilitating diseases that take away physical strength, independence and life. We use our collective strength to help kids and adults live longer and grow stronger by finding research breakthroughs across diseases; caring for individuals from day one; and empowering families with services and support in hometowns across America.
