Cliff’s Local Market, a locally owned and operated chain of 21 convenience stores, is your go-to destination throughout the Central New York Region. Our stores offer a wide variety of options to satisfy your cravings, including made-to-order fresh food selections, premium brewed coffee, hot pizzas, and more.
As a family-owned business with over 60 years of history, the Clifford family takes pride in giving back to the communities we serve. We support several charities, community-wide events, and local organizations, embodying our commitment to making a positive impact since our inception in 1961.
At Cliff’s Local Market, we, the Clifford Family are proud of our people, our stores, and the local area in which we’re privileged to operate. Our story is multi-generational and has evolved over decades in great thanks to our loyal customers, vendor partners, and talented team members.
Founded by Jack Clifford in 1961, Clifford Fuel Company was established in Dolgeville, NY, supplying home heating oil, LP gas, farm gas, and diesel fuel. Our business was later moved to Utica, NY in 1966 where we began additionally distributing gasoline, diesel fuel, and lubricants to service stations throughout Central New York.
In the 1980s, we began to own and operate our own full-service gas stations, opening our first convenience store in 1982, a franchise of Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes. As the gas station and convenience store combination became a thriving business model, we gradually increased our number of locations.
Ending our partnership with Nice N Easy in 2017, we rebranded our locations to Cliff’s Local Market – a brand we created to keep our history as Clifford Fuel and ties to our local communities that we service intact. The transition to Cliff’s reflects our commitment to delivering the best possible experience to our customers, with a renewed and continued focus on fresh food, local flavor, and community engagement.
We are proud to maintain Cliff’s Local Market as a locally owned and operated third-generation company focused on familiar, local, friendly relationships and interactions. Humbled to continue serving many local communities across Central New York, our family plans to continue growth with ambitions of always working to better serve our customers.
